Treating Prostate Cancer Effectively with Chemotherapy

Treating prostate cancer is a very complex mission. There are many options available and practiced throughout the world. In the ultra sound technique, high density sound waves are employed to destroy the cancer cells. The sound waves are usually generated from endorectal probe placed inside the patient’s body .chemotherapy is a cancer treatment that destroys cancer cells or stops their cell division potential. Chemotherapy can be either systemic chemotherapy or regional chemotherapy. The former is given by intravenous injection while the latter is distinctly placed in the body cavity.

When high energy x-rays or other types of radiation are employed to wipe out the cancer cells, the treatment is called radiation therapy for treating prostate cancer. Watchful waiting, surgery and radiation therapy are three standard therapies for men with localized prostate cancer. So far no detailed comparison of all the above three options have been undertaken. University of Florida researchers have used a synthetic protein to initiate blood clotting to cut off the nutrients and blood supply to the tumor and this therapy is called gene therapy

Instead of employing genes to deliver the protein for blood clotting, some researchers are finding ways and means to deliver the protein directly .to the sites of interest. Others are using nanoparticles to detect tumors

Noscapine.a natural substance present in cough medicine is likely to emerge as chemical for treating prostate cancer. No tangible toxicity was observed with noscapine. The study which has been completed in mice will soon be done in human beings also and no side effects are anticipated.

In treating prostate cancer from the naturopathy standpoint, watchful waiting is equal to a regular treatment since patient’s diet is monitored and herbs and supplements are prescribed to increase the chance of surviving prostate cancer. Patient will be allowed time to look at options and treatments. During watchful waiting, regular rectal exams and ps a monitoring are conducted.

For elderly patients, treating prostate cancer, is always complicated. Instead of ‘wait and see’ policy, of observing spreading of cancer in the case of elderly people, if they are given active cancer treatment, their chances of surviving prostate cancer increase.
